If you want to driving traffic to your website, one of the most important SEO tactics is link building. Link building can help to increase your ranking on popular search engine like Google and Yahoo and can also help you to increase your amount of referral links to your site. There are a variety of different ways that you can build links to your site, but you want to make sure that you use the most effective methods possible. The following are four of the best ways to build links to your site.

Online Directories

One of the best ways that you can build links to your site is by using online directories. There are a variety of different directories that allow you to submit your site pages to them. Some directories may be free, while others will charge a fee to list your website on it. It is also important that you have your website listed in the right category as well so you will bring targeted traffic to your website.

Press Releases

Another great way to build links to your website is to submit press releases to the media about your website. You can use press releases to present great information about your site to the online world, and there are many free press release directories to choose from. You can also submit press releases to other press release directories for a small fee as well. This will help to drive more traffic to your site and will also provide you with even more referral links to your site as well.

RSS Feeds

You can also use RSS feeds as a great way to build links to your site as well. This allows you to have your content on other websites by using an RSS feed. You can have your RSS feeds appear on other sites that relate to your site so you can send targeted traffic to your site. This is also another great way of building links so that your site will rank better on the search engines.

Related Websites

Yet another great way to build links to your site is to get your site linked on another website. This is not also the easiest thing to accomplish, but sometimes you can find sites that are willing to do a link swap with you. A link swap allows you to put up someone else’s link on your site, and in return they will put up your link. This is an excellent way of building links if you can get other website owners to agree to it.

Your ability to build quality links to your site can actually result in the success of your online business. Build a great deal of quality links to your site, and it will improve your search engine rank, which will in turn improve your business.

Using Press Releases To Get Traffic And Build Links To Your Website

Gary Ruplinger asked:

One of the most powerful ways to bring traffic into a website and build links is to use press releases.

If you’re using online methods to distribute your press release, you’ll find that every time you submit on, it will bring in both traffic and links.

Even if your press release doesn’t generate any interest from reporters, it will still help your website.

A great press release can completely change your business and bring in a flood of traffic, links, and even get you on CNBC or Oprah.

Even when given all the benefits of press releases, however, most people will never use them.

They have a list of excuses that include: I don’t have anything newsworthy; My business is different; I don’t know how to write a press release; and this one really befuddles me – because someone might actually call them and want to interview them – they’d have to *gasp* actually talk about their business to someone.

Of course, they’re just that – excuses. Coming up with something newsworthy is relatively easy. Any business can benefit from the use of press releases, they’re even relatively easy to write. For those who are afraid you might actually have to talk to someone, though, I’m not sure what to tell you – a lot of times, no reporters will call, but they might.

Here’s a few tips for successful press releases.

1) Headlines Are Vital

Just like a great headline can make or break a salesletter, the headline of your press release can make or break it. If your headline doesn’t grab someone’s attention, then it doesn’t matter how great the rest of your press release is because nobody’s going to read it. If you need help coming up with headlines, just go to your library and look at the headlines of magazines and newspapers. You’ll find plenty of great headlines within their pages.

2) Not An Advertisement

Remember that your press release is not an advertisement. While you can certainly use them to promote a new product or service in your business, the actual press release should read like it’s being written by a neutral third party. Think of yourself as the reporter writing the story about the product, why it was created, and a little history. Don’t hype up the product, just give them the facts.

3) Quotes

Have you ever noticed how just about every article you read in a newspaper has a quote from one person or multiple people? That’s because quotes make your stories more interesting. Always include a quote from someone in your press release, even if the only person you can quote is yourself.

So next time you’re looking for to get more traffic or links to your website, give the press release a try.

10 Ways To Build Back Links

November 21, 2008

Lou Drake asked:

You’ve built a great website, loaded it with fantastic products and services, and now you’re wondering to yourself how in the world do you get visitors to see it ? Building up a good amount of links into your site from other websites is an excellent way to increase the traffic to your website. So how do you build links ? There are many ways to build up links into your site. In this article I’ll go over ten ideas that should help you with building links and traffic to your site.

1. Reciprocal Links – Do some research, find other websites that are related to yours in some way and contact the webmaster about a possible link exchange. Don’t spam a thousand sites bugging for links. Take your time and write up a professional request. Remember that quality is better than quantity, choose the sites you exchange links with wisely, don’t just swap links with any site you come across.

2. Website Directories – Submit your site to website directories, most offer free links. This can be time consuming, but it’s well worth the effort. Some website directories charge a small fee for links, only you can decide if the link that it will provide for your website is worth paying for.

3. Blogs – Posting comments on blogs is a great way to build back links. Don’t just comment and leave nothing but a link to your site, be sure the comment you leave is relevant to the blog post, and your link back is not done in a spammy way.

4. Forums – Most forums allow signature links, not only do you gain a link back with your signature but you also gain a lot of exposure because your signature shows up every time you make a post in a forum.

5. Buying links – There are many, many sites that offer link sales. You can purchase links on their home pages, sub pages and some will sell site wide links. Again, you should be choosy when deciding whether or not to buy links on a website. Be sure the link you’re buying is a good value for you money. You want your back links to benefit you, not hinder your efforts. Don’t buy links on sites that seem spammy, or shady.

6. Offer Something Free – Free clipart, free templates, free web tools, anything free. People like free and WILL link to it !

7. Write a “How To” on a popular subject – A good “how to” will be read and people will “Digg” it, this will bring you even more traffic and back links.

8. List your site on the popular Social Bookmarking sites, such as Digg, Reddit, Spurl, De.lici.ous.

9. Write an authoritative article – Write a great article and submit it to the top article directories. Remember, the key to getting link backs this way is in your “about the author” box. Be sure you link back to your site and choose good anchor tags !

10. Pay a Link Builder – If you just don’t think you have the time, energy or motivation to do all the steps above you can always hire a professional link builder. Professional link builders will charge based on the amount of submissions they do for you usually. Do yourself a favor and check references before hiring any link builder, you do not want to hire someone who submits your site to thousands of free for all links pages, these are considered link farms and will not benefit your site in any way.
